As part of our ongoing efforts to build resilience to flooding and better protect our village, works will be taking place over the coming weeks to implement the Natural Flood Management scheme.

These improvements are designed to reduce the amount of surface water entering Alderton’s drainage system during periods of heavy or sustained rainfall. While this project won’t eliminate flooding entirely, it will significantly reduce the severity and likelihood of future issues, helping to ease pressure on the village’s drainage network.

Temporary Diversions
During this period, there will be temporary diversions in place to ensure everyone can walk safely while works are carried out, particularly during the creation of the swale.
Please follow all diversion signs for your safety and to help the works run smoothly.
Below is a map to show where these diversions are expected.

Planned Road Closure – 27th & 28th October
Please note there will be a road closure on Beckford Road on 27th and 28th October to allow essential clearance work to take place at Millennium Copse.
We kindly ask all residents to plan ahead and avoid this area during the closure.
Why This Matters
This scheme is part of a long-term strategy to manage surface water naturally, protecting homes, roads, and infrastructure in our community. By slowing down the flow of water and diverting it in a controlled way, we aim to reduce the risk of future flooding events.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these vital works are completed.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Parish Council.
Thank you for your support,
Alderton Parish Council
